THOMANERCHOR LEIPZIG – Bach’s choir today

Bach’s choir today – Thomanerchor Leipzig “Once a Thomaner, always a Thomaner”

Click on the link to read the latest brochure  and film about this famous choir that counts Johann Sebastian Bach as one of its  most illustrious Cantors from 1723-1750. The choir cherishes its musical traditions and still performs a Bach Cantata weekly in the Thomaskirche.  In 1994, the choir made its UK debut as guests of the London Bach Society, performing four Bach concerts with Steinitz Bach Players – London (2), Cambridge, Birmingham and Wells.

The Thomaner consists of boys aged between 9 and 18 years. They live and rehearse in the Alumnat and, in addition to the weekly  Services (Motettes), engagements around Germany and Europe, the choir receives an endless flow of invitations to perform around the world, from South America to South Korea and Japan.  All this has to work in with the boys’ all-important daily education at the Thomasschule.
