LONDON BACH SOCIETY
ANNIVERSARY & ADVANCEMENT FUND
FOR THE DIAMOND JUBILEE 2006-7
LBS has recently launched a special Fund Raising Campaign for the Diamond Jubilee.
The purpose is to raise £150,000 to underpin new and ongoing projects, to provide some stabilisation and development money so that the Society can build on its achievements and continue to serve the community, and to be able to plan ahead with confidence and assurance.
It is no mean achievement for a Society to have contributed to British musical life for sixty years. Originally led by its distinguished founder and now carried forward into the 21st century by a new generation, the Society's pioneering work has changed the way we approach the performance of Bach's music in this country and got back to Bach in its original form. It has also opened the door to this magnificent treasury of music for many generations of performers and listeners.
The Campaign target will be raised through private Gift Aid Donations, Gifts and Grants from Charitable Trusts, major institutions and companies. The Campaign has been inspired by the Society's desire for growth and development, and to improve its ability to serve the community.
Joh. Philipp Kirnberger , one of Bach's pupils, wrote:
"The great J. Seb. Bach used to say "Everything must be possible", and he would never hear of anything's being 'not feasible'. This has always spurred me onward to accomplish many difficult things in music, by dint of effort and patience, according to my own poor powers." - The New Bach Reader, p.412
