Steinitz Bach Players celebrating Golden 50th at Bachfest in St John’s Smith Square on 6 November 2018

We invite you to make us one of your Christmas charities this year and support our first ever Match Fund campaign.

We have just £1,760 left to raise in order to meet our £10,000 target.

London Bach Society is funded by private donations, grants from charitable trusts and the general income, including ticket sales ,it can generate from its public activities (concerts, recitals, workshops, competitions, organ and music hire).  Since 1968 LBS has supported its own professional orchestra that attracts the very best players.

Revenue from ticket sales does not cover the costs of the events we present at Bachfest or at any other time of the year, so we rely on the generosity of our donors, Bach Friends and our audience supporters to help us make things happen.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, trusts and Bach Friends we have raised £60,000 of the £70,000 target in support of the London Bach Society’s annual programme of work, including Bachfests, in 2016, 2017 and 2018.  This formed part of the LBS 70th Anniversary Appeal, a three-year project, 2016-2018 that must end by 31 March 2019 (the end of our financial year).

To realise the target and propel us into our new era of work, we are busy raising the final £10,000. The Match Fund was launched with a donation £5,000, which has been donated already, a further £3,240 has been raised in matching funds from other donors bringing the total to £8,240. We have just £1,760 left to raise and we’ll meet our target.

Will you join in and help us?  Small gifts or larger ones…they all count; they are all valued.

In 2019

  • 18-30 Bach Club reaches its 10th Birthday. This event is opening the door to the ‘live’ classical concert experience for many young people.
  • The 7th Bach Singers competition is scheduled for Autumn 2019 that will benefit young singers on the threshold of their careers through three Rounds, Master Classes and Workshops.   Our past biennial Bach Singers Prizewinners are all making waves on stage and in the recital hall, including Nick Pritchard (2013), Anna Harvey (2015), Jessica Dandy (2017).
  • We have our own professional orchestra, Steinitz Bach Players (SBP) that has been central to our concerts and recitals for 50 years. Your gift could help enable us to develop the activities of the orchestra.
